Wal-Mart to officially discontinue HD DVD sales by June
You know that this really means the end for HD-DVD when Wal-Mart is not going to sell it anymore. I can only imagine that the Blu-Ray group is extremely happy they won the format war. It’s the whole SONY Betamax vs. VHS fight all over again, only this time, SONY won.
It’s questionable whether one was really ‘better’ than the other, but now that the format has been decided, here’s hoping the prices of players will start dropping. Maybe this Christmas? I’m going to go out on a limb and make a prediction that you’ll be able to get a 42″ 1080p LCD and a Blu-Ray player for under $999 this coming Christmas, if not before… that’s right, you heard it here first, folks! ![]()
Anyway, I’m glad I sat this one out until it all got sorted. I feel bad for all the early HD-DVD adopters.
